So after not running for a few weeks due to hip problems, ITB problems and my annual holiday to South Africa, you could say that I was feeling a bit apprehensive about taking part in my first trail 10k race.
We drove down to Coed-y-Brenin early on the Sunday morning so that we would have time to register. Not ideal weather conditions as it was chucking it down with rain and on arriving I was still undecided as to whether I was going to go ahead with it.
However, after a little coaxing from my husband and the reassurance that there were plenty of marshals and first aiders along the route, how could I not give it a go!
I’m so glad I did it! The route was challenging in places, it was raining throughout, but I just loved it. Such a great experience running along the trails, plenty of hills, muddy puddles and tree roots to negotiate, but it was great fun .
My husband ran alongside me all the way and despite my reservations, I did really well considering this was my first run for several weeks. We both crossed the finish line at 1hr 22mins. Not the fastest time in the world, but we took it steady, enjoyed the scenery and made it to the end in one piece.
I highly recommend this 10k trail run, I am definitely signing up for it next year. Here’s think link if you’re interested http://www.runcoedybrenin.com/events-at-coed-y-brenin/trail-10k-wales/
